I have developed an irresistible desire for writing in Oriya. I don't know why. May be for my staying long away from home. I guess, like me, many of you must have forgotten writing Oriya. For some time now I was in search of a tool to easily and effectively write Oriya almost anywhere I wish. First I was using Baraha. It was excellent, but not widely accepted since it is not UNICODE based.
My googling continued...! Then I found a software, a free software and that is from Google itself. Here I give the link so that if you like writing Oriya, at least virtually, you can download and install in your PC. I am sure you will like it. It uses phonetic spelling only, so you won't have to learn Oriya typing. You can write Oriya in .txt, .doc, .xls and even on Net , chatting etc.
For installation, you will get the instructions there. Oriya has not got the acceptability as other Indian languages e.g. Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam, Telugu etc. due to inadequate usage. Let us give our bit of contribution for promoting our own language.

In my office, I introduced this software for usage of Rajbhasa (Hindi). They liked it. I will be happy to help you in sorting out any installation related problem or queries.
(Please note that sometimes in Windows XP, you could have problem in viewing Oriya on Internet Explorer Browser. In that case you may use Mozilla Firefox Browser.)
Regards,
